5-1-06 Sheetrock arrives and is distributed around the house, ready for installation.  The vinyl soffetts are installed under the eves.  Rita drives the "Honey Boo II".

5-17-06 The end of this rainbow is located at 332 Driftwood Point.  In many more ways than one.  On a trip to Orlando to visit our son, Tony and his family, we see exactly the type of door hardware we want on our doorway from the master bed room opening onto the sun room.  Edge mounted top locking mechanism.  Also at Tony's we see the exact type of edging we want to put on our Formica counters, beveled at the edges.  And the deep-set one-basin kitchen sink!  Tony sure has a very nice house, but... The absolute nicest thing at Tony's was Noah!

5-18-06 Our front entry door is finally installed. Well the door frame anyway.  And we have walls!  The sheetrock installation is complete.  The arches take shape and are simply beautiful.  The open ceiling can now be appreciated. The trey ceiling in the master bed room is completed.  The sun room has a vista into the great room.  The pantry is now coming to life.  The lower floor's family room and kitchenette is shaping up.  The garage is huge.

5-19-06 The brick foundation is cleared ready for the bricks to start being laid.  And along the garage wall in the front.

5-21-06 The doors arrive. Note the doors have a top arch that carries the arches of the house into the trim and doorways.  Grannie and Jim on the Honey-Boo II.  The type of boat house and dock we are going to build.  The first fish caught from the boat.  The banisters for the stairway before installation.  The doorway from the master suite into the sun room. Note the glass wall section to the left of the door.  The bricks are being installed and this is the wall vent system  between the bricks and the wall vapor barrier.
5-28-06 The brick installation progresses.  The outcome of the brick patters is random and very pretty.  We are using Boral's "Alamo" pattern.  The hand fluted columns are taking shape for the Great Room and the Foyer.

5-29-06 Details in the brick work for the house.  The columns continue to show up nicely. The columns will be painted gloss white to contrast with the cream walls and off white ceiling.  We made the decision on the open beams, they will be finished in wood surfacing to match the cabinetry in the kitchen.

5-30-06 The bricking is finished in the back of the house.  We get in the pull-down ladder for the attic crawl space.  The columns are very nice.  In the words of John O. (Our contractor)  "This house is not only going to be very functional for living, but is going to be very beautiful.  It will be a house that I will be proud to say I hand a hand in building."  Coming from this builder of many fine custom homes, this is very high praise, indeed.  We are getting pretty anxious to move in!
