The painters start to spray the primer throughout the house.  Pump and 5 gallon cans in kitchen and spraying ongoing downstairs.  We have two bricks from our old house in VA that Donnie saved for us.  We each put in one of the old bricks into out new home, located under the windows in the garage.  Rita puts in one brick and it is a bit redder than the rest of our bricks and I put in the second one, which matches the bricks pretty well.  Other photos show bricking progress along the front of the house.  Sides and back are complete.

6-04-06

We take Cindy & Buddy and the kids out on the UFO tube and they have a great time. Steve and Dan try to tip the tube while Rita's hand shows up in the background.  Danzie helps me steer the boat in at the close of the day.

6-05-06

Painting is ongoing upstairs.  the rooms seem to be getting even larger with the application of paint.  The view into the dining room from the foyer as seen thru the pass-thru opening is spectacular.  The last pic is the window seat being constructed in the office bay window.

6-06-06

Construction starts on the pool.  Digging out the slope to make a flat pool deck area, then the pool is chalked in.  It will be rectangular with "Grecian" (45 degree cutouts) at the corners.  Last pic in row one is the "Pool Kit".  After layout, then the pool is first dug in around the edges.  View of the earth moving details.  The tiles we selected for the floor areas ("Diana" = the largest tile) the counter tops ("Regina Ivory" = the second tile) and the accent tiles (the row on top).  The house as seen from our boat on the lake.

6-07-06

We visit the cabinet maker who is making custom cabinets for our home in the kitchen, master bath, the two small baths and the kitchenette downstairs.  All cabinets will be golden oak stained. He is making good progress and the cabinets should be set in the house next week.  The front of the house bricking continues.  The pool walls are set in and the men are carefully surveying in the depth elevations.  Two views towards the lake over the pool, now that two trees are taken down.  Ex-Sweet Gum trees (read: prickly seed pods!).  Last 2 pics show the crown molding being used in the house, and the slight gloss the painters are putting on it to contrast from the walls and ceilings.

6-8-06

The pool is set in and the edges are set into cement, then the backfilling starts.  The stone masons are setting in the stone accents in the front on the house, covering the Dining Room wall and the Porch walls. The last photo shows that the deck "kit" of treated lumber arrived.

6-9-06

Details of the masons putting in the stone accents.

6-12-06

The painting continues inside.  The stone masons start and complete the well housing.  Somewhat larger than we anticipated, but it will fit right into the overall front entry plan, of a curved sitting wall and a flagpole insert.  Also seen is the brick steps from the garage into the hallway.

6-16-06

The stone accents on the front have been completed.  We have custom cut keystones for the stonework.  The deck building has just started.

6-17-06

Deck work continues.  The view of the lake thru the deck spindles. and of course the "mirror window" in our bedroom which is really a glass view-port.  Once decorated, it will not likely look like a mirror.  The last pic is the transom for our entryway door.

6-20-06

Three views of the completed deck.  and a bluebird somewhere in the tree.

6-21-06

The hallway of the sun room with the ceramic tile underlayment set in.  Underlayment starts is set into kitchen. Tile arrives in garage.  A cabinet arrives for the kitchen.

6-24-06

The front entryway door is hung!  So is the garage door.  Check out the tile in the kitchen view from the garage entry.  Kitchen cabinets placed on the tile on the stove wall and the refrigerator wall.  Lastly the view down the sunroom now that the tile is nearly complete. The linen closet is framed in for the master bath as is the "Hers" vanity and the "His" vanity.  Another view of the tile in the kitchen/eating area.  and the inside of the front entry door.  The last pic is the upstairs guest bathroom with cabinet in place.

06-28-06

Our front entryway door has been mounted.  A shot of the kitchen area from the eating area showing the cabinet arrangements but without the cabinet backs or tops.

06-29-09

Another shot of the kitchen cabinets as they are being attached to the floor.  A pic down the length of the sun room and back towards the eating area.  The cabinets in the kitchen.  We put the downstairs Congoleum choices next to a cabinet for a choice - We choose the larger slate-looking pattern on the left for the entire downstairs flooring.  The last pic in the first row is Harry's men's cabinet slated for the wall behind him as he stands at his vanity.  Jim the tile man works on our master bathroom wall.  The dropped ceiling guys are working downstairs and this is their lazer level unit to keep all the drop at exactly the same level.
