We break ground!  John O. digs a soil profile trench that reveals a saprolite.

The guy wire and pole are still in place.  The old pole is still there.

We work with John & Jerry to stake the house footprint on the ground.

the second perk hole test has been completed onsite. The footprint is staked and a string runs between the corners delineating the house footprint. Temporary power has delivered, but not yet set up.

We find a bulldozer onsite and a shovel scheduled to arrive soon. We took photos of each other in the driver’s seats, and then the digging of our basement and the crawl space commenced. Three big and several small trees were removed. The digging went on for about 4 hours before quitting time near dark. The basement form is starting to take shape.

One truck load of dark fill dirt in driveway. Second truckload arrived while we are waiting.

Additional level work is being done w/ dozer in basement area using a tripod mounted laser level. Dan & Matt pull tire out of lake and roll it up to the driveway front for removal. Driveway was leveled completely from back to front with new fill dirt. We have made decisions on what kind of brick and pattern as well as the front entry door.
