4-1-06 I have been retired (read forced retirement) on April 1st {what an elegant date to stop working for the Federal government!} FOR EXACTLY ONE YEAR.  A lot has happened and many good things have come to pass.
4-3-06 We some nails and erect our temporary mailbox.

4-4-06 Shingles and valley flashing start arriving. Shingles start. Digging out behind the seawall to install the French drain permeable layer.

4-6-06 Our 500 gallon underground propane tank arrives onsite.

4-8-06 On a side trip we see that Steven King has settled into the neighborhood.  I'm voting for him.

4-11-06 Our newest toy has been purchased for lake use. Lowe Trinidad 200 w/
Mercury 4-Stroke 75 HP; Seats ~12, fishing/cruising extraordinare!

4-12-06 Plumber arrives onsite. work progresses, installation for washers, lavatories and refrigerator ice-maker are completed.

View of shingles from lakeshore.  And our lakeshore from the point just downstream from us. See out new seawall and the view of the lake looking upstream?

The rip-rap rock has arrived for the lakeside of the seawall. One truck load arrived on the evening of April 11 and the second during the morning of April 12th.  The backfill on the walls' south end is not yet complete. The joint with the seawall of the Hutchesons' has been repaired, as agreed. Several extra 12 inch blocks still lay onsite to be moved. The level grading looks good on north wall end.  No weep holes yet drilled into wall. The lake is due to rise to full pool by May 8th.

4-14-06

View into the house and thru to the lake into the front door.  Rita takes depth measurement from neighbor's dock to check if we could moor there.

4-17-06

The tub and shower unit is installed in lower bathroom.

4-20-06

The tub and shower unit is installed in upper small bathroom, through the office wall studs, temporarily removed to get the tub into the bathroom.  Rita welcomes our master bath's roman whirlpool bathtub in the garage.  The septic tank and drain field sections arrive by truck.  The drain field sections are simply plastic covers over the french drain-like drain field tubing.

4-21-06

The plumber finally hooks up the well and pump to the house system.  Well head fixture is in the front yard.  Drain field is completed.  The septic tank is installed.  The in-ground propane tank is finally buried in place.  Just the fill top is visible.

4-26-06

Harry awaits the launching of the "Honey-Boo II" our new pontoon boat.  The boat is launched and Harry takes the helm.  Rita takes the paddle.  Everyone is excited to get under way.

4-27-06

The insulation is installed into the Great Room's ceiling.  A new arch is added for stability of the kitchen half-wall.  The fire-boxes of the fireplaces are framed in.  Rita goes to take another water measurement.  We decide on a solid glass window from the Master Suite into the Sun Room, rather than a window.  Such functionality is not needed, just the view.

4-28-06

The  Trane air conditioning/heat pumps arrive and installation starts.  Lots of ducts and airways to be installed.  Three units will be used and separately controlled by thermostats: The Master Suite, The downstairs, and the rest of the upstairs.  The fireboxes of the Great Room and the Master Suite are installed.  The installation of the insulation is ongoing.  One guy used strap-on stilts to easily reach the high ceiling areas.  The bricks we selected arrive, and are stacked in pallets around the house.
